Swansea, IL - Sycamore Village, 225 Castellano Dr. held a special luncheon for Sylvester (Dick) and Pearl Keck in honor of their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 5th. Attended by friends and family, the couple enjoyed an intimate lunch in the private dining room. On Tuesday, September 7th, Sycamore Village held another luncheon in their honor so that they could celebrate with all of their neighbors and friends. Dick and Pearl's son Dennis, also attended. Many of the residents approached the couple to congratulate them and share their own stories of anniversaries and weddings. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a delicious cake made by Sycamore's hair stylist, Ava.
Dick and Pearl both grew up in Millstadt, IL and lived in Belleville for 45 years. Dick served in the army during WWII and then worked as a truck driver. Pearl was a hairdresser for 60 years. Pearl said "I knew I liked Dick because he was a good man, just like my father." The couple is active with the Nazarene Church and Dick is a Shriner. The couple also enjoys playing Rummy with the other residents and the staff knows to have Dick's favorite snack of coffee and cookies on hand when they see him coming.
