Swansea, IL - Sycamore Village is proud to announce that our newly appointed Dementia Care Educator, Natalie McFarland, R.N. was recently called upon by Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL, to present at their Orthopedic Nursing Symposium.  Natalie's presentation, How to Care for the Hospitalized Patient with Alzheimer's, covered such specifics as:

• An overview of dementia
• Behavior management
• Family support
• Environment needs
• Nutritional needs

The nursing symposium was a full day agenda with educational topics ranging from knee replacements to Alzheimer’s disease, presented to a group of approximately 60 nurses.
A total of twenty credits are needed by R.N.s to renew their license every two years.  Sycamore Village is dedicated to being a community resource for dementia care and education.  Natalie is available to offer this training to any local hospital or healthcare setting.
