  Dated : 01.12.2011

Sycamore Village-Swansea, IL donates a painting created by the residents for The Alzheimer's AssociationSwansea, IL-Sycamore Village.   Zoe Dearing, BME, MT, Professional Education Coordinator, from the Alzheimer's association, accepted a very special donation today from Sycamore Village. A group painting, using various shades of purple (The Alzheimer's Association signature color) was created by several of the residents.  Along with the painting was a personalized plaque with the painting's title, "A Walk in the Dark", and a few words about the memory enrichment community at Sycamore Village.
Many of our residents have been participating in our Art Therapy program over the past year.  In 2010, Sycamore held it's first annual Alzheimer's Art Show and raised over $3,600 to give to the Alzheimer's Association.  All the paintings that were auctioned were created by our residents in dementia and Alzheimer's care.  "All of us at Sycamore Village are looking forward to this year's Alzheimer's Art Show.  We are hoping for an even bigger turn-out", said Natalie McFarland, RN, BSN, and Dementia Care Educator at Sycamore Village.
If you would like more information on the dementia/Alzheimer's care provided at Sycamore Village or would like a tour of our community, please call 618-222-2571.
