Sycamore Village introduces Brain Fitness software to maintain and improve residents cognitive health.
Clinicians and researchers world-wide agree that an active brain is a healthy brain. A healthy brain has less possibility of developing Alzheimer's Disease or other forms of dementia. Good nutrition, physical exercise and socialization all contribute to good health and Sycamore Village has always offered these "low tech" options for health maintenance.
As part of Sycamore Village's on-going committment to prevention and early detection of memory loss, a new "high tech" cognitive software program is now available for residents and family members to utilize as well. The program is called Its Never 2 Late and it's making quite the impact on those who have used it. It is fun and encourages cognitive exercise in the same way group exercise programs encourage physical fitness.
The program can be personalized to fit the cognitive level of those participating and its touch screen capabilities make it "successful" for those without the dexterity to manage a mouse. Staff recently received training and are excited to share this next generation of brain health with residents and families. If you have questions regarding this new brain fitness program, please contact Natalie McFarland, RN, Director of the Sycamore Village's Memory Support Program (618)222-2571 or email
